As the digital world becomes more advanced, scammers are inventing new and sophisticated ways to trick Web3 users into stealing their assets. Smart contract forgery, phishing websites, airborne scams and spamming are just some of the dangers one has to face while browsing the Web3 space. In 2022, more than $1.6 billion in cryptocurrencies went missing due to massive exploits in DeFi, far more than thefts in 2020 and 2021. So where is the bright side?
Fortunately, there is a solution designed specifically to combat these malicious activities, helping users to keep their digital assets secure and use Web3 services with confidence.
Web3 Antivirus (W3A) is a free and open-source Chrome extension powered by proprietary security auditing frameworks and equipped with millions of websites on block lists and allow lists from which it extracts data.
Web3 Antivirus is the brainchild of PixelPlex, a team of experts with years of experience in auditing smart contracts and building custom blockchain solutions for clients. This experience also allowed the team to pinpoint the weakest points in the current Web3 environment.
The W3A extension allows users to step up their research efforts and get an inside view of how the platforms they use work. The extension scans the smart contract and parses the code using a graphical structure algorithm to pinpoint any inconsistencies or red flags that users should be aware of.
When the W3A validation is completed, users receive a report detailing the results of the algorithm. Of course, the red flags that appear during these security checks do not automatically mean that a project is a scam, but they do give users the opportunity to conduct a more detailed investigation of specific aspects of the project. In addition, the extension will allow users to see what permissions they have granted to applications regarding access to their crypto wallets and assets.
